Pike Place

Our day at Pike Place and Seattle Waterfront was a spectacle of colours and sunshine. It was a picture perfect day. Literally.

I met a fruit vendor who charmed me into buying the sweetest Muscat grapes. He wasn’t bad looking either. He recommended that we visit a turo-turo stall for lunch. So guess what we had for lunch? Adobo, longganisa and sinigang na salmon and halibut.

There were specialty stores and my favorite was the Holy Cow Records where I found a second-hand DVD of I Am Sam for US$4.99.

We didn’t get to see any flying fishes and singing fish vendors. Too bad.

Lastly, we visited the very first Starbucks that started it all. It was established in 1971. What did I order? Pike Place blend on coffee press. What was Harry’s order? Caramel Macchiato. Bitter and Sweet.

Surprise of the Day: We rode a ferry from the Seattle Waterfront to go to Bainbridge Island. It was a thirty-minute ride one way to the Island. When we got there we just walked and walked; to the center of town what was contained in one street; to a jetty that went out into the water by at least 50 meters; to a bridge that crosses an inlet; then back to the ferry dock for our ride back to Seattle.
